Hi, I'm Asli, the maker behind butterlu! 👋
I grew up near the Mediterranean, and some of my earliest memories are of working alongside my dad — a civil engineer — making frames together, his architectural drawings scattered beneath our wood pieces with the ocean just outside our window. I was seven years old, and I didn't know it yet, but those moments were planting the seeds for everything I'd one day build.
butterlu actually started with a completely different dream — I named it after my two daughters' nicknames, Butter and Lu, and originally thought I'd be filling it with little girls' hair accessories. Life had other plans! In 2015, I found my way back to wood and frames, and I haven't looked back since.
Eleven years on Etsy later, I'm still just as excited to make something beautiful for someone I've never met. I live near Houston, Texas with my husband (my absolute best friend) and our four kids, and I have a million creative ideas running through my head at any given moment. I'm drawn to beautiful things and I love knowing that what I make will live in someone's home for years to come.
Every frame I make is produced using a printing process I've carefully perfected — because quality isn't something I'm willing to compromise on. When your order arrives, I want you to feel proud handing it over, and I want the person who receives it to keep it forever.
My love language is giving gifts, so I poured that into building a shop full of things I truly believe in. These aren't just frames — they're keepsakes waiting to happen. 🤍
